Cultural Events welcomes Larry Bennett, author of “The Third City: Chicago and American Urbanism,” at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 12, to discuss his book about 21st century Chicago and the ways the second Mayor Daley transformed the city’s image. His free talk will take place in Koten Chapel.
Bennett received his Ph.D. in urban planning from Rutgers University and is a professor of political science at DePaul University where he teaches courses in American politics, urban politics/policy and urban studies. He’s the author and coauthor of numerous books, including “Fragments of Cities: The New American Downtowns and Neighborhoods,” “Neighborhood Politics: Chicago and Sheffield” and “It’s Hardly Sportin’: Stadiums, Neighborhoods, and the New Chicago.” For more information contact Judy Brodhead at 630-637-5276.
