Today, May 27, the Entrepreneurship and International Business Organization (EIBO) invites the campus community to hear talks by two international business representatives, Mary Lynn Fayoumi and Robert Kauffman, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in Smith Hall. They will speak on a variety of topics, ranging from taking a business abroad to the challenges of human resources internationally.
An international human resource specialist, Fayoumi started traveling and working in Europe after graduating from the University of Iowa and attending the American Graduate School of International Management. In 1999, she was appointed president and CEO of the Management Association of Illinois and established a reputation with the Chicago area business community. She has served as a delegate on a China Executive Human Resource Exchange, completed an international performance management project in Europe, and presented many programs on topics such as sexual harassment, performance management and safe employment practices. She specializes in advising corporate management on their human resource management needs abroad.
An international sales and logistics expert, Kauffman is a 23-year veteran of the international shipping global trade industry. After graduating from Benedictine University, he worked in his family’s international shipping business and at multiple prestigious shipping companies, including China Shipping, Hapag-Lloyd and COSCO (China Ocean Shipping Company), the fourth largest shipping company in the world. In 1995, he founded Transtel, Inc. in Naperville and in five years the company’s revenue grew to $12 million. He sold the company in 2006 and in 2008 started up his own shipping company called DLO Logistics, a full-service global transportation provider.
