North Central College will present a free showing of the documentary “The Reckoning” as part of the College’s three-year focus on global human rights, which is sponsored by the Office of International Programs and the Leadership, Ethics and Values program.

The screening is the final event this term in the global human rights series and will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 8, in the theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall. Rated R for violence, the film follows International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo over three years and across four continents as he builds cases against genocidal criminals.

The ICC is the first permanent court created to prosecute perpetrators of crimes against humanity, war crimes and genocide. Ocampo and his team issue warrants of arrest for the Lord’s Resistance Army in Uganda, put Congolese warlords on trial, shake up the Columbian justice system and charge Sudan’s President Omar al-Bashir with genocide in Darfur.

“The Reckoning” is directed by Pamela Yates and Paco de Onis who visited campus this past fall term to introduce a prior documentary, “State of Fear.”
