Award-winning fiction writer and speaker Mark Quinn will discuss his true-to-life 2009 novel, “The Chairman, A Novel of Big City Politics,” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, in Smith Hall. Quinn grew up in a Machine-dominated ward on the South Side of Chicago. In his novel, he presents a character-driven plot and gives a convincing portrait of how complicated and unpredictable the world of ward politics can be.
Quinn’s sequel, titled “The Chairman’s Challenge, A Continuing Novel of Big City Politics,” is due this fall. His talk is hosted by the College’s Cultural Events. More
