Cultural Events and Office of International Programs will present a free screening of the documentary “Salaam Bombay” on Jan. 25 as part of this year’s international focus on India and global environmental change. The 1988 Hindi film by Mira Nair will be shown at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, in Meiley-Swallow Hall.
Shot entirely on location, this narrative film tells the story of Krishna, Manju, Chillum and other children surviving on the streets of Bombay or Mumbai, India. An Academy Award nominee for Best Foreign Language Film, this highly acclaimed film is a gritty look into the plight of India’s urban street children.
During winter term, the College will present several screenings of various documentary films, hosted by the Office of International Programs, Cultural Events, The Union and fine and performing arts.
