Thomas P. Moore was inducted into the Crawford County Veterans Hall of Fame in November 2010. He was honored for his service as a U.S. Navy fireman first class aboard the USS Sea Devil (SS-400) and USS Sea Dog (SS-401) during World War II. As a result of his service, he was named a life member of United States Submarine Veterans of World War II. During his career, Moore was president and chief executive officer of the Brokensword Broadcasting Company, 1962-1995. He served as president of the Ohio Association of Broadcasters, legislative liaison for the National Association of Broadcasters, president of the North Central Ohio Broadcasters Association and the National Association of Broadcasters small market radio committee. He’s a member of the American Legion, president and CEO of the Crawford County Development Board and is an Ohio Northern University life trustee. During his 48 years in Crawford County, Moore has received several notable awards, including Bucyrus Area Chamber of Commerce 1994 Citizen of the Year. He’s listed in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Finance and Who’s Who in the Midwest. By mayoral proclamation, his 80th birthday on February 28, 2008, was declared Tom Moore Day.
