Jim VanHootegem was named the new head cross country/track and field coach at the University of Oklahoma.
“I’m looking forward to the challenge of working in a program that possesses an extensive history of producing championship-caliber teams and student-athletes,” he said. Previously, he was assistant coach of track and field for Texas A&M University. He played a crucial role in the team’s seven NCAA championships, 14 conference championships and 22 individual NCAA champions.
VanHootegem was also named the 2009 Men’s National Assistant Coach of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association and Mondo Regional Assistant Coach of the Year at the 2012 NCAA Championships in Sacramento, CA. He was a seven-time All-American in track and field at North Central.
