Wieczorek received the prestigious Arlo Schilling Presidential Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded annually to a Presidential Scholar who best exemplifies the spirit of Dr. Arlo Schilling, seventh President of North Central College, in areas of leadership, compassion and community volunteerism. Thomas was awarded the Larrance Presidential Scholarship, the highest award in the merit-based Presidential Scholarship program at North Central College. It is named in recognition of the College's former Board of Trustee Chairman, Kenneth Larrance, and his wife Leona, whose endowed scholarship fund supports the cost of tuition for a top Presidential Scholar. The Presidential Scholarship is North Central's most prestigious merit-based award. Each scholarship is renewable for three additional years providing the student maintains the required grade-point average. Criteria for the scholarship include ACT or SAT scores and a recalculated grade-point average focused on core academic courses.
