Originally from the Philippines, Lindo Lindo took third place in a world-wide contest sponsored by Click here to view Lindo’s five-minute spoof video, “The Study Abroad Show,” that earned him a top place in the contest. Contest judges said Lindo “brings with him an excellent sense of humor and his posts reflect this … We are sure that he will make lots more people laugh during his study at North Central College.” Lindo’s blog may be read at Lindo LindoLindo, 20, is studying for a bachelor of arts degree in broadcast communication and is based at the University of the Philippines. He is taking part in the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD), a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State that provides scholarship awards for undergraduate, non-degree study in the United States. Since his arrival in early January, Lindo has experienced cold weather and snow for this first time in his life. “The cold temperature was really the toughest thing to deal with at first,” he wrote on his blog. “For a student who came from a tropical country like the Philippines, it was like locking yourself inside a freezer!” But Lindo has quickly adjusted to the climate and poetically captures the experience by writing that winter in Naperville allows him to “step on cloudlike layers of ice crystals” and create “shoeprints in the snow.” About International Programs at North Central College North Central College’s Office of International Programs offers extensive opportunities for students to study abroad and for international students to attend North Central.
