Theatreworks USA’s musical revue “Fancy Nancy & Other Story Books” brings to life the story of Nancy, who just doesn’t understand why she’s the only one who appreciates the value of frilly accessories and a prodigious vocabulary. She decides it’s time to teach her family how to be fancy.

Performed by a five-member cast who portray dozens of characters throughout the show, the stories represent various issues, themes and ideas relevant to a broad and diverse audience of children. Other books included in the revue include “Duck for President,” “Babymouse: The Musical,” “I Have to Go!” “Leonardo, the Terrible Monster” and “Pirates Don’t Change Diapers.”

This 60-minute musical is recommended for children in grades kindergarten through fourth. A study guide for teachers is available on the Theatreworks USA website and includes topics to talk about before and after the show.

New York City-based Theatreworks USA has a distinguished history of actors, writers, directors and designers, including four-time Tony-winning director Jerry Zaks; writers Marta Kauffman and David Crane of TV’s “Friends”; and Tony-winning actors John Lloyd Young, Roger Bart, Chuck Cooper and John Glover.
