Steve Peebles, a 2007 North Central College graduate who majored in musical theatre, is performing as Dicken in Evanston’s Light Opera Works’ production of “The Secret Garden” through Jan. 1.

Chicago Tribune theater critic Chris Jones mentioned Peebles in a review published Dec. 29.

“Steve Peebles’ likable Dicken and Jerry M. Miller’s rock-solid Ben are very appealing throughout,” Jones wrote. Jones praised the show, saying “the production is a rare chance to see the warm show professionally performed with its original Broadway orchestrations, without any musical compromise.”

The production also was reviewed by Chicago Sun-Times theater critic Hedy Weiss and is “highly recommended” in a review by Around the Town Chicago’s Alan Bresloff.

While still a North Central student, Peebles was cast in a Chicago Shakespeare production of “Much Ado About Nothing.” He is a senior recruiter for PeopleScout, an ensemble member at Shattered Globe Theatre Company and has appeared in numerous other professional theatrical productions.
