May 17, 2012—Szymon Kesek of Schiller Park was awarded the 2012 Outstanding Major in Philosophy Award during Honors Day May 15 at North Central College.
Kesek is a sophomore double-majoring in philosophy and political science with a minor in history of ideas. He is the son of Jan Kesek and Barbara Szczepanik-Kesek and a graduate of East Leyden High School.
At North Central, Kesek has been a dean’s list scholar and participated in the College Scholars Honors Program. Though recipients of the College’s annual outstanding major awards are not necessarily seniors, it is uncommon for students to achieve a department award during their second year of studies at North Central. Kesek is the only sophomore this year being recognized as an outstanding major.
