Nicole Rivera, adjunct assistant professor of psychology, presented a session titled “When Classes Get ‘Out of Tune’: Dealing with Challenging Behaviors” at the Old Town School of Music in Chicago on Feb. 13. The session was part of a combined meeting of faculty for the Old Town School of Music and the Illinois Association for Music Therapy. Three North Central students also attended the meeting as a Verandah experience, titled “Multicultural Music: Songs, Interventions, and Techniques.” The meeting and its various sessions were attended by some 100 professionals and was open to all North Central students.
In addition to teaching psychology, Rivera is a board-certified music therapist and has worked in the field for more than 17 years.
