July 8, 2011—Molly Link, a graduating senior and sociology major from Batavia, Ill., was voted recipient of the Mark A. Reid Student Leadership Award by her senior classmates.
Each year, a deserving senior receives this award in honor of Mark Reid, a former student leader and president of North Central’s Student Association when he was killed in an auto accident in 1984.
In announcing the award winner during the Commencement exercises June 11, President Harold R. Wilde said, “(Molly Link) is a respected leader on campus and in service to the community. Her talents have touched nearly every area of the College. … Her leadership style is characterized by grace, humility and self-sacrifice—always putting others first, which has inspired so many of her peers, along with faculty and staff.”
Link has served with the Student Governing Association, Relay For Life, as a Legacy Ambassador for the Office of Alumni Relations, at the Harold and Eva White Activities Center, with Orientation for new students, and planned service trips for ministry and service, participated in international service trips to Africa and Colombia, competed on the women’s tennis team, and was inducted to Chi Alpha Sigma honor society for student-athletes with high academic and athletic achievement.
