When 15 North Central College accounting majors receive their undergraduate diplomas June 9, they will have already taken the Ethics portion of the five-part Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam.
Typically, students don’t have the option to take part of the CPA exam while they’re still students. However, Sarah Lureau, assistant professor of accounting, arranged for the opportunity through her professional association with the Illinois CPA Society. Because North Central College and the Illinois CPA Society co-sponsored the test, students received a discounted rate and were able to take it on campus in April. This is the fourth year in a row Lureau has arranged this for graduating seniors.
