Dec. 9, 2010—River North Chicago Dance Company previews the world premiere of a tango program featuring two Argentinean superstar dancers Jan. 29 at North Central College.
The evening will feature a preview of a highly anticipated world premiere suite of tangos by Argentinean dancers and choreographers Sabrina and Ruben Veliz. The husband and wife team has toured the globe performing in countless high-profile festivals and engagements. The tangos will feature 12 River North dancers.
The performance begins at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, in Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Benton Ave., Naperville. Tickets are $25 and $15; call the North Central College Box Office at 630-637-SHOW (7469) or visit northcentralcollege.edu/showtix.
The program includes: Duets, a compilation of Artistic Director Frank Chaves’ most celebrated and sensual duets, The Mourning, Fixe and At Last; Evolution of a Dream, a 2009 full-company re-envisioning of the company’s classic 1992 signature work, Reality of a Dreamer by Co-Artistic Director Emerita Sherry Zunker, set to a new version of the original song, “Sweet Dreams,” by Eurythmics co-composers David Stewart and His Rock Fabulous Orchestra and Annie Lennox; and Love Will Follow, a 2001 elegant and romantic piece by Chaves set to the music of Kenny Loggins and choreographed for six couples.
The company will perform the world premiere of the tango program Feb. 11-13 at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance in Chicago.
