College President Hal Wilde addressed North Central’s faculty Thursday for the first time since announcing his retirement to the Board of Trustees Feb. 17.
Wilde told the faculty that their input—as well as input from alumni, staff, students, the community at large and other constituencies—will be sought to determine the job description that will be created by the search committee and consultant charged with identifying candidates and making a recommendation to the Board. Trustees hope to vote on their choice for the next president in October, faculty were told.
“I should not—and will not—be part of that process, but rest assured I will be an active president until the day I retire, telling the ‘old man story’ at this year’s Commencement, standing at the top of Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium to cheer on the Cardinal football team this fall, visiting alumni throughout the nation and working as hard as I can every day until December 31 to achieve the goals of the Sesquicentennial Capital Campaign,” Wilde said in his Feb. 17 email to faculty, announcing his retirement.
Wilde received a standing ovation from faculty Thursday after his remarks to the group.02-23-2012
