Oct. 8, 2010—North Central College associate professors of education Maureen Kincaid, Nancy Keiser and Kristine Servais were recognized at the American Institute of Higher Education’s 5th International Conference in Orlando, Fla., Sept. 29-Oct. 1, for presenting the conference’s top paper.
Their award-winning paper will be published in the American Journal of Educational Studies. The paper titled “Using a Collaborative Leadership Model in a Teacher Education Program” addresses the advantages of collaborative rather than traditional leadership in teacher education programs and higher education.
Their paper is dedicated to the memory of Lora Tyson, associate professor of education, who was instrumental in the movement to a collaborative leadership model. It was selected from a two-person blind review for a journal that accepts just 25 to 30 percent of papers submitted. The North Central faculty were recognized and presented with a plaque at a reception Sept. 30 at the conference.
Tyson, 58, of Naperville, a former chair of the education department at North Central College, died in 2008 after battling cancer.
Kincaid and Servais reside in Aurora, Ill., and Keiser resides in DeKalb, Ill.
