Aug. 23, 2011—North Central College anthropology student Amanda Marolf of Naperville, who interns at The Field Museum in Chicago, has been awarded the College’s 2011 Gloria Levitt Scholarship for Anthropology.
Marolf, a junior, was awarded the $1,000 scholarship for her work in The Field Museum’s Anthropology Collections during the summer. She’ll continue her internship in the fall.
“Amanda has worked extremely hard for me over the summer and will continue to work here two days a week during the fall semester,” said Gloria E. Levitt, associate registrar in The Field Museum’s Department of Anthropology. Levitt is a 2003 alumna of North Central College who established the scholarship.
Levitt was an intern before she graduated from North Central and was hired for a permanent position at the museum. She teaches interns the accession process—acquiring, labeling and storing new items—a process that a museum professional can use in any setting.
