Natalie Cummins earns 2012 Outstanding Major in French Award

May 21, 2012—Natalie Cummins of Bloomington, Ill., was awarded the 2012 Outstanding Major in French Award during Honors Day May 15 at North Central College.

Cummins is a junior majoring in French and global studies with a minor in Spanish at North Central College. She is the daughter of Jay and Cindy Cummins and is a 2009 graduate of Normal Community High School.

She is actively involved with the Office of Ministry and Service where she also works as a student intern. She has helped organize the College’s annual Intersection event, during which students, faculty and staff volunteers perform community service work in Naperville, Aurora and Plainfield.

In December 2009, Cummins traveled with a group of students to Haiti and served at an orphanage, school and medical center. She later took part in fundraising efforts to provide relief after an earthquake in that country. During fall term 2011, she studied abroad in Angers, France, and more recently traveled to Washington, D.C., with other students from the College’s International Justice Mission (IJM) chapter for a Student Freedom Summit organized by IJM.

Her name regularly appears on the College’s Dean List, which recognizes students with high academic achievement.
