The Manhattan Transfer celebrates the holiday season with “Cool Yule—The Manhattan Transfer Swings Christmas,” a collection of familiar and well-loved holiday classics, Dec. 4 at North Central College.

Two Manhattan Transfer performances are set for 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, in the College’s Wentz Concert Hall at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave., Naperville. Tickets are $50 and $45; call the North Central College Box Office at 630-637-SHOW (7469) or visit northcentralcollege.edu/showtix.

“Cool Yule—The Manhattan Transfer Swings Christmas” is sure to put audiences in the holiday spirit. The group’s two Christmas CDs, “An Acappella Christmas” and “The Christmas Album,” remain among the best-selling holiday CDs of all time.

The show includes such seasonal favorites as “Santa Claus is Coming to Town (Santaman),” “Let it Snow, Let it Snow,” “White Christmas,” “Merry Christmas Baby” and “Happy Holidays.”

The group consists of vocalists Cheryl Bentyne, Tim Hauser, Alan Paul and Janis Siegel. The four are staples within the jazz world and the mainstream music community and continue to enlighten listeners by bringing different genres of music to the forefront of the jazz.

The platinum-selling ensemble made Grammy history in 1981 by becoming the first group to win Grammys simultaneously in both the jazz and pop categories. The group’s 1985 release “Vocalese” received 12 Grammy Award nominations, second only to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” at the time. Forty years after its founding, the group is still as adventurous as ever. Visit manhattantransfer.net to learn  more.
