Sarah Lureau, North Central College assistant professor of accounting, was approved as a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) by the Certification Committee for the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) on Sept. 6.
The CFE credential, considered the gold standard in the area of fraud and one of today’s most marketable credentials, signifies proven expertise in fraud examination. This certification by Lureau has created a distinctive qualification within North Central’s accounting department.
In order to become a CFE, Lureau met certain professional and personal standards and passed the four-part CFE Exam, which covered fraud prevention and deterrence, fraudulent financial transactions, fraud investigation and legal elements of fraud.
Lureau has been a member of the College’s faculty since 2008. A C.P.A., she earned a B.S. from Marist College and an M.A.S. from Northern Illinois University.
