Wendy Koenig, North Central College associate professor of art history, recently had an article published in a book titled “The Transcultural Turn.”
Koenig’s article, titled “Motion and Sound: Investigating the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center,” evolved out of her 2010 presentation at an international conference on Transcultural Memory at the University of London.
Examining a wide range of historical and cultural contexts, the essays in this collection focus on the dialogues that shape processes of remembrance between and beyond borders, critiquing the problems and possibilities inherent in current discourses in memorial practice and theory as they approach the challenge of transculturalism.
A member of North Central’s faculty since 2008, Koenig earned her B.A. from University of Louisville, her M.F.A. from Ohio University and her Ph.D. from The Ohio State University.
