Wendy Koenig, North Central College associate professor of art, is co-editor of “The Holocaust and World War II: In History and In Memory,” published December 2012 with Cambridge Scholars Publishing.
The book includes 19 articles by various writers, including Gerhard Weinberg, Raffael Scheck and Koenig, whose chapter was titled “Sound History: Acoustic Design in Holocaust Museums.” The articles are based on papers presented at the 9th Middle Tennessee State University International Holocaust Studies Conference in October 2009. They focus on the connection between World War II and the Holocaust as it was lived as well as how it is remembered, commemorated and taught.
Her co-editor is Nancy E. Rupprecht, chair of the Holocaust Studies Program and a professor of history at Middle Tennessee State University. This is the second time the two have served as co-editors for a book of essays related to Holocaust studies. Their first (2010) was titled “Holocaust Persecution: Responses and Consequences.”
Koenig has been teaching at North Central since 2008. She earned a B.A. from the University of Louisville, an M.F.A. from Ohio University and a Ph.D. from The Ohio State University.
