Kid-friendly “Junie B. Jones” staged Feb. 6

Kids and adults alike will enjoy the stage presentation “Junie B. Jones” Feb. 6 at North Central College.

The main character of the comical series of books by author Barbara Park and illustrator Denise Brunkus comes to life for two performances at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, on the stage of North Central College’s Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Junie B. JonesIn the family-friendly musical production by New York-based TheatreworksUSA, Junie B. Jones is finally graduating from kindergarten and is ready for first grade, at last. But getting used to a whole new group of friends, a new teacher and new glasses is challenging, even for the irrepressible Junie B.

The production stars St. Charles, Ill., native Colleen Fee as Junie B. and features lyrics by Marcy Heisler and music by Ziora Goldrich. TheatreworksUSA is America’s largest and most prolific professional not-for-profit theatre for young and family audiences. Since 1961, Theatreworks USA has entertained more than 78 million audience members throughout the United States and Canada.
