Jeff Thorne, North Central College assistant head football coach and offensive coordinator, was inducted to the Wheaton Warrenville South High School Athletic Hall of Fame Oct. 21. Thorne graduated from then Wheaton Central High School in 1990.
Wheaton Warrenville inducted 10 new members at the school’s annual crosstown classic football game against Wheaton North on Oct. 22. However, because the Cardinal football team had a scheduled game against Illinois Wesleyan that day, Thorne was inducted to the Athletic Hall of Fame Friday night, Oct. 21.
While a student at Wheaton Central, Thorne competed in baseball, basketball and football and was a standout quarterback, earning All-State honors in 1989. He continued his playing career at Eastern Illinois University, where he was a four-year starter, earning All-Gateway Conference honors as well as being named to the 1993 NCAA Division I-AA Preseason All-American Team.
Thorne joined the coaching staff at North Central in 2002. He has a B.A. from Eastern Illinois University.
