Perry Hamalis, associate professor of religious studies and director of academic opportunities, was invited to give a lecture March 16 at Fairfield University in Fairfield, Conn., as part of the school’s lecture series on Global Citizenship. Titled “The Politics of Personhood: An Orthodox Perspective on Global Citizenship,” his lecture “… described some of the ways in which an Eastern Orthodox understanding of human beings as ‘persons’ carries implications for notions of global citizenship and diversity within community. [It] drew upon two current examples: Greece’s identity struggle within the E.U. and Russia’s struggles with Religious Freedom.”
