Gilberto Perez was honored with the 2011 Outstanding Major in Physics Award during Honors Day May 17 at North Central College.
Perez is majoring in physics. Enrolled in North Central’s 3-2 dual degree program in engineering, Perez will attend the University of Illinois to complete his electrical engineering degree from North Central and the University of Illinois.
As a student at North Central, Perez assisted faculty with summer research and presented his own research at the College’s Rall Symposium for Undergraduate Research. During summer 2010, he worked under the supervision of Paul Bloom, assistant professor of physics, on an instrumentation development project.
