March 12, 2010--North Central College hosts Toying with Science, a fast-paced and dynamic program created by Garry Krinsky, who explores the wonders of science, using circus skills, toys, mime, upbeat original music and audience involvement.

Krinsky brings his show, which is suited for grade school and junior high-aged children and their families, to North Central for two performances on Saturday, May 1, at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., in Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Benton Ave., Naperville. Tickets are $10/adults and $5/children 12 and under; call the North Central College Box Office at 630-637-SHOW (7469) or visit

Since 1978, Krinsky has brought his high energy and experience to thousands of schools, theaters and festivals across the United States and Canada. He's also performed on live television, including NBC's "Today" show. During his program in Naperville, he will bring his science toys to life with motion, original music, humor and insight as he explores, among other things, the scientific principles of gravity, leverage, fulcrums and simple machines.

He may even turn audience members into stars as he playfully shares the stage, juggling, balancing and welcoming them into his colorful world. He has a knack for dissolving the boundary between the audience and himself, so the performance sweeps through the entire theater.

Commissioned and developed with the Museum of Science in Boston, Krinsky created his Toying with Science program in 1978. He and his audience investigate basic scientific information and delve into the imaginations of scientists who explore our world.

Caroline Chapman, chairman of the Children's Theater Festival in Tryon, N.C., says, "His show teaches the children so much about science and allows them to participate in the process ... Garry makes it so exciting, fun and easy to understand. Toying with Science is a great show for all ages."

Krinsky was an original member of the Boston Buffoons, co-founder of the Patchwork Players and a member of the New England vaudeville troupe, The Wright Bros.

The Toying with Science performances are two of many ongoing programs hosted at North Central College to enrich and broaden the academic and cultural outlook for the College and community.
