Tom Cavenagh, Schneller Sisters Professor of Leadership, Ethics and Values, was recently awarded the Austin Fleming Editor Award for his role as editor-in-chief of the Illinois State Bar Association publication “In the Alternative.” This award is the highest prize given to Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) editors.
The congratulatory letter from the ISBA read, “That makes you a member of a small, elite group of editors who, since 1981, have been recognized for truly outstanding service to the ISBA.”
North Central students and faculty involved in the College's Alternative Dispute Resolution program have participated in production of the ISBA-published “In the Alternative” for 15 years, with students working as editors and Cavenagh as editor-in-chief. The newsletter is published at least four times annually and reaches more than 900 Illinois lawyers. North Central students who work on the publication can receive course credit for their work.
In addition to Schneller Sisters Professor of Leadership, Ethics and Values, Cavenagh is professor of business law and conflict resolution; director of the Leadership, Ethics and Values program; and coordinator of master of leadership studies program.
