Brian Riordan earns Clarence Juhnke Award for music

Brian Riordan was honored with the 2011 Clarence Juhnke Award during Honors Day May 17 at North Central College. The award recognizes an outstanding student majoring in music. Riordan is a percussionist.

While studying music at North Central, Riordan performed with the College’s String Ensemble and accompanied numerous ensembles including the College’s Women’s Choral, Chamber Singers and Cardinal Chorus. In spring 2011 he had the opportunity to study with renowned Russian composer Dmitri Yanov-Yanovsky, who was North Central’s composer-in-residence and has worked with such artists as Yo-Yo Ma and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
