The Beach Boys delighted fans of all ages for two sold-out shows in Pfeiffer Hall Oct. 15-16. Audience members stayed on their feet, grooving back and forth to faithful renditions of the band’s songs about surfing, cars and summer.
The legendary band proved the timelessness of its music, with audiences singing along to classics including “I Get Around,” “Fun, Fun, Fun,” “Kokomo” and “Sloop John B.” For slower songs, the group encouraged everyone to hold up their cell phones and wave them back and forth.
The addition of actor and musician John Stamos, of “Full House” fame, brought smiles to those who remember the family sitcom of the 1980s and 1990s. Stamos, who joins the group on stage when he's not filming, alternated between guitar and drums during the performances. Stamos and The Beach Boys surprised “Full House” fans with a performance of “Forever,” made famous on an episode of the show.
The Beach Boys kept the crowd engaged for the duration of the performances, altering the chorus of “California Girls” to cater to the Naperville audience. Fans left with ears buzzing and a night full of memories and nostalgia.10-18-2011
