North Central College appointed five new tenure-track faculty members for the 2013-2014 academic year:

Alumnus building new facility to court success

Robin Henders ’03, co-owner of Five Star Tennis, is pursuing his long-held dream of opening a tennis facility for his rapidly expanding business. Five Star Tennis is building a 40,000-square-foot indoor tennis facility in Plainfield near 119th Street and Normantown Road. A grand opening is scheduled for January 1, 2014.

Proud to be a member of the Class of 1963

Time flies when you’re having fun. That might be the motto of the Class of 1963, the latest North Central College graduating class to be inducted into the 50-Year Club at Homecoming.

Kristi Prins '02

Kristi Prins is assistant editor for Kairos: A Journal of Rhetoric, Technology and Pedagogy. Her responsibilities include preproduction checks, design and technical editing, copyediting and preparing author queries, as well as participating in a final proofreading of each issue. Prins is also writing her dissertation, “Materiality, Craft, Identity, and Embodiment: Reworking Digital Writing,” at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Jonny Kaufmann '12

Jonny Kaufmann is producer of the “Morning Rush,” a morning show on Cities 92.9 WRPW-FM in Bloomington and Normal, IL. He also is news director, which includes providing news updates, covering local press conferences and helping update the website with current news stories.

Mike Krieglstein '10

Mike Krieglstein is production manager for The Giving Tree Band from Yorkville, IL. The band has received international recognition and plans to tour as far as Australia, with other international dates to follow.

Jeremy Ceja is a psychology teacher at Eisenhower High School in Blue Island, IL.

Rob Bassett '05

Rob Bassett is principal of Oak Park Elementary School in Oak Park, IL.

Grant Swanson '11

Grant Swanson teaches sixth grade at St. Francis Indian School on the Rosebud Lakota Reservation in South Dakota. After his first year of teaching under contract with Teach For America, he worked as a teacher-ranger at Yellowstone National Park. As a result, he was able to take his students on a weeklong field trip to Yellowstone through the program Expedition: Yellowstone! a curriculum-based educational program about the importance of the park.

Shannon Juenger '09

Shannon Juenger is a fourth-grade teacher at West Lane Elementary in Jackson, MO. Juenger earned her English as a second language certification from Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC. She may be reached at shannonjuenger@hotmail.com.
