Kristen Dunlap-Berg '10

Kristen Dunlap-Berg completed the Belle H. Bennett House program at Scarritt-Bennett Center in Nashville, TN. The 10-month service program focused on the empowerment of young women. The four young women in the program lived in intentional community while practicing spiritual formation and vocation discernment and engaging in social justice efforts. Each woman also interned at a local nonprofit. Dunlap-Berg spent her time at Book’em, a Nashville childhood literacy organization, where she learned about a small nonprofit business.

Alumni work and woo on "The Bachelorette"

It wasn’t the first television appearance for Jackie Mitchell ’99 Nelson (pictured far left), director of the celebrity and entertainment outreach program for the Red Cross, who appeared on “The Bachelorette” as a guide and spokesperson for the organization. She took bachelorette Desiree Hartsock and her date James Case on a helicopter tour of the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy on the Atlantic coast. They concluded their date by talking to storm victims Jan and Manny, a Seaside Heights, NJ, couple who lost their home on their 38th wedding anniversary to Hurricane Sandy.

Alexandria Kordelewski '12

Alexandria Kordelewski is a music teacher at Krejci Academy of Little Friends Inc. She assumed the role of music director for the summer play “Peter Pan” at North Central College.

Zach Smith '11

Zach Smith is a physical therapy student at Governors State University in University Park, IL.

Nick Pingel is teaching physics and chemistry at Addison Trail High School. He is also coaching golf, wrestling and baseball.

Dusty Gilbreth '09

Dusty Gilbreth is program manager and youth baseball instructor at The Infield in South Elgin. He makes it his priority to set young pitchers on a path to long-lasting arm health. With a background in baseball and a certification as a personal trainer, he has built a program designed to help young baseball players maximize their potential. “After studying personal training, I started to understand what it takes to keep a young, healthy arm,” he said.

Katherine Sparks is pursuing a master’s degree in statistics at Loyola University in Chicago.

Maggie Drewno is pursuing a degree in veterinary medicine at the University of Illinois.

Thomas Hollingsworth '11

Thomas Hollingsworth, Air Force Airman 1st Class, graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio, TX. Hollingsworth completed an eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Jonathon Eby is a research technician in the laboratory of Caroline LePoole at Loyola University Medical Center, studying immune recognition of cancer cells and autoimmunity.
