Brian Zable earns Outstanding Major in Computer Science Award

Brian Zable received the Outstanding Major in Computer Science Award during the 2013 Honors Convocation at North Central College.

Brian Zable, son of David and Andrea Zable of Elmhurst, Ill., was awarded the Outstanding Major in Computer Science Award during Honors Day May 14 at North Central College.

A senior, Brian is majoring in computer science at North Central College and enrolled in the College’s five-year bachelor’s/master’s program in Web and Internet applications. He is a graduate of York Community High School.

Brian has been active in the College’s computer science department, serving as a preceptor in classes and participating in the regional programming competition.

President’s Invitation to Serve is part of Inauguration weekend

President Hammond, his family and some 75 faculty members and their families, staff and students joined forces to serve at Emmanuel House.

The President’s Invitation to Serve on May 19 was a fitting way to conclude the Cornerstone Inauguration weekend. President Troy Hammond and his family and some 75 faculty members and their families, staff and students joined forces to serve at one of the duplex homes with Emmanuel House, a nonprofit effort based in Aurora. Initiated by Rick Guzman ’99, Emmanuel House provides housing and help for refugee and working-class families.

Peter Mann earns Junior Scholar-Athlete Award

Accounting, finance major Peter Mann received the Junior Scholar-Athlete Award for highest GPA during the 2013 Honors Convocation at North Central College.

Peter Mann, son of John and Sharon Mann of Glenview, Ill., was awarded the Junior Scholar-Athlete Award during Honors Day May 14 at North Central College. The award recognizes the student-athlete in each class with the highest grade-point average.

A junior, Peter competes on the football team's defensive line and is majoring in accounting and in finance at North Central College. His name has regularly appeared on the Dean’s List. He is a graduate of Glenbrook South High School.

Rebecca Barnhart earns Freshman Scholar Athlete Award

Human resource major Rebecca Barnhart received the Freshman Scholar Athlete Award for highest GPA during the 2013 Honors Convocation at North Central College.

Rebecca Barnhart, daughter of Chris and Jodi Barnhart of Geneseo, Ill., was awarded the Freshman Scholar Athlete Award during Honors Day May 14 at North Central College. The award recognizes the student-athlete in each class with the highest grade-point average.

A freshman, Rebecca competes on the women’s tennis team and is majoring in human resource management at North Central College. She is a graduate of Geneseo High School. Her name has regularly appeared on the Dean’s List.

Callie Rezin earns Sophomore Scholar-Athlete Award

English major Callie Rezin received the Sophomore Scholar-Athlete Award for highest GPA during the 2013 Honors Convocation at North Central College.

Callie Rezin, daughter of Daniel and Tami Rezin of Rockford, Ill., was awarded the Sophomore Scholar-Athlete Award during Honors Day May 14 at North Central College. The award recognizes the student-athlete in each class with the highest grade-point average.

A sophomore, Callie competes on the women’s basketball team and is majoring in English literature at North Central College. Her name has regularly appeared on the Dean’s List. She is a graduate of Rockford Lutheran High School.

Daniel Kerley earns Senior Scholar-Athlete Award at Honors Convocation

Senior psychology major Daniel Kerley earns Scholar-Athlete Award for fourth year for highest GPA during North Central’s 2013 Honors Convocation.

Daniel Kerley, son of William and Teri Kerley of Vienna, Ill., was awarded the Senior Scholar-Athlete Award during Honors Day May 14 at North Central College. The award recognizes the student-athlete in each class with the highest grade-point average. Daniel has received the Scholar-Athlete Award all four years at North Central.

A senior, Daniel is majoring in psychology at North Central College and is a graduate of Vienna High School.

Carl Monk earns Outstanding Major in History Award

Carl Monk received the James Henry Breasted 1890 Outstanding Major in History Award during the 2013 Honors Convocation at North Central College.

Carl Monk, son of Colin and Katy Monk of Morris, Ill., was awarded the James Henry Breasted 1890 Outstanding Major in History Award during Honors Day May 14 at North Central College. The award recognizes the outstanding student majoring in history.

A senior, Carl is majoring in History at North Central College. He is a graduate of Morris Community High School. He will pursue graduate studies in early American history and serve as a teaching assistant at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee in the fall.

Adam Doden earns Outstanding Major in Exercise Science Award

Adam Doden received the Outstanding Major in Exercise Science Award during the 2013 Honors Convocation at North Central College.

Adam Doden, son of Gary and Lorraine Doden of Cortland, Ill., was awarded the Outstanding Major in Exercise Science Award during Honors Day May 14 at North Central College.

A senior, Adam is majoring in exercise science with minors in psychology and wellness at North Central College. He is a graduate of DeKalb High School.

A student veteran and former U.S. Marine, Adam transferred to North Central to prepare for a career in strength and conditioning. He has accepted a full-time position as facility manager at Players Indoor Sports in Naperville.

Ian Wright earns Outstanding Major in Global Studies Award

Ian Wright received the Outstanding Major in Global Studies Award during the 2013 Honors Convocation at North Central College.

Ian Wright, son of Kevin and Deborah Wright of New Lenox, Ill., was awarded the Outstanding Major in Global Studies Award during Honors Day May 14 at North Central College.

A junior, Ian is majoring in studio art and global studies with a focus on Europe at North Central College. He was home-schooled.

Ian visited the Czech Republic during North Central’s winter term 2013 and took a photo that received first place in the Office of International Program’s photo contest. Ian’s name has regularly appeared on the Dean’s List.
