Marion Gibney-Demaison earns Outstanding Major in Spanish Award

A senior, Marion is majoring in Spanish, has a minor in French and studies Latin at North Central College. In the fall, she will be begin working toward a graduate degree in translation studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Tia Johnson earns Clarence Juhnke Award

Tia Johnson received the Clarence Juhnke outstanding student in music award during the 2013 Honors Convocation at North Central College.

Tia Johnson, daughter of Kyungyee and Thomas Johnson, of Aurora was awarded the Clarence Juhnke Award during Honors Day May 14 at North Central College. The award recognizes the outstanding student majoring in music.

A junior, Tia is majoring in instrumental music at North Central College. She is a graduate of Oswego East High School.

Marisa Miko earns Outstanding Major in Music Education Award

Marisa Miko, daughter of Lori and Gary Miko, of Naperville was awarded the Outstanding Major in Music Education Award during Honors Day May 14 at North Central College in Naperville.

A senior, Marisa is majoring in instrumental music and choral music at North Central College. She is a graduate of Naperville North High School.

Marisa has been active on a number of the College’s musical ensembles, including the Women’s Chorale, Chamber Singers and Concert Winds and has participated in a student composition showcase.

North Central College graduate Mark Zajac has earned a spot as a policy fellow in Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn’s Chicago office through the Dunn Fellowship program.

Recent North Central College graduate Mark Zajac ’12 of Des Plaines, Ill., has earned a spot as a policy fellow in Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn’s Chicago office through the James H. Dunn Memorial Fellowship Program.

“I’ve always been interested in all things international, traveling to other countries and foreign affairs,” Zajac says. “This fellowship opens a lot of doors and will help me to better understand the world.”

Louis Waldmeir earns Outstanding Major in German Award

Louis Waldmeir received the Outstanding Major in German Award during the 2013 Honors Convocation at North Central College.

Louis Waldmeir, son of Mary and John Waldmeir, of Dubuque, Iowa, was awarded the Outstanding Major in German Award during Honors Day May 14 at North Central College.

A senior, Louis is majoring in German and his name regularly appears on the College’s Dean’s List for high academic achievement. He is a graduate of Dubuque Senior High School.

A senior, Jeremy is majoring in studio art at North Central College. Focusing on 3D work, he likes constructing things with his hands. His artwork reflects his background in the trades and his talents in blacksmithing and welding.
