North Central College welcomes American hip-hop artist Hoodie Allen in concert May 18 with opening acts Outasight and The Ready Set.

The performance begins at 9 p.m. Saturday, May 18, in North Central’s Residence Hall/Recreation Center, 440 S. The concert is presented by North Central College’s Fine and Performing Arts, College Union Activities Board (CUAB) and Office of Alumni Relations.

Student musicians connect with high schools, university on spring tour

North Central College’s Concert Winds embarked on its spring tour April 15-18, conducting clinics, performing at high schools, a university, on campus.

North Central College’s Concert Winds ensemble, involving some 90 students, embarked on a spring concert tour in mid-April. The tour included performances and workshops at several local and Indiana high schools, a combined concert with Trine University’s Wind Ensemble in Angola, Ind., and a final performance on North Central’s campus.

Doh-Khul Kim, North Central College associate professor of economics and finance, co-authored a paper titled “The Effectiveness of Commodities in Hedging Inflation—Is It Still Valid During Low Inflationary Period?” which was published in the fall/winter edition of the Journal of Business and Economic Perspectives. His co-author is North Central graduate Eric McKee ’12, who triple-majored in actuarial science, finance and classical civilization.

North Central College faculty and students present free screening of collaborative documentary project about sustainable tourism in Guatemala.

North Central College faculty and students have collaborated to create a documentary, titled “Con los Brazos Abiertos,” about sustainable tourism in Guatemala. A free screening will be shown to the campus community at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, in Heininger Auditorium at the Larrance Academic Center.

“The film project,” says Matthew Krystal, associate professor of political science, sociology and anthropology, “is primarily about professional development and faculty-student collaboration in the production of films on anthropological and economic topics.”

The students presented to K-12 educators as part of the Physical Education, Health Education and Driver Education DuPage County Institute sessions.
