Amy Olson earns 2012 Outstanding Major in Writing Award

Amy Olson of Sycamore was awarded the 2012 Outstanding Major in Writing Award during Honors Day May 15 at North Central College.

May 21, 2012—Amy Olson of Sycamore was awarded the 2012 Outstanding Major in Writing Award during Honors Day May 15 at North Central College.

Olson is a senior majoring in English writing and English literature with a minor in secondary education at North Central College. She is the daughter of Jane Olson and is a 2008 graduate of Sycamore High School.

Concert Winds presents spring concert May 22

Nearly 90 musicians strong, the North Central College Concert Winds will present its Spring Concert at 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, in Wentz Concert Hall. With guest conductor Steven Green, the Concert Wind’s repertoire is varied with both contemporary and more traditional works. Among the pieces you’ll hear are Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes Forever,” a concert march “Pas Redoublé” by Parisian composer Camille Saint-Saëns and an arrangement of “Amazing Grace” by Frank Ticheli.

Eric McKee earns honors for outstanding major in finance, actuarial science

Eric McKee of Naperville earned honors for outstanding major in finance and actuarial science during Honors Day May 15 at North Central College.

May 21, 2012—Eric McKee of Naperville earned two academic awards during Honors Day May 15 at North Central College.

McKee was recognized with the 2012 Outstanding Major in Finance Award and the 2012 Outstanding Major in Actuarial Science Award.

McKee is a senior triple-majoring in actuarial science, finance and classical civilization. He is the son of Roger McKee and Diane Zurbriggen and a graduate of St. Francis High School in Wheaton.

Emily Schmidt earns 2012 Outstanding Major in English Award

Emily Schmidt of Mascoutah, Ill., was awarded the 2012 Outstanding Major in English Award during Honors Day May 15 at North Central College.

Schmidt is a senior majoring in theatre and English writing at North Central College. She is the daughter of Bradley and Mary Schmidt and is a 2008 graduate of Mascoutah High School.

Jenna Markowski earns 2012 Outstanding Major in Journalism Award

Jenna Markowski of Lombard was awarded the 2012 Outstanding Major in Journalism Award during Honors Day May 15 at North Central College.

May 21, 2012—Jenna Markowski of Lombard was awarded the 2012 Outstanding Major in Journalism Award during Honors Day May 15 at North Central College.

Markowski is a senior majoring in print journalism and interactive media studies/convergent media at North Central College. After she graduates in June she will work full-time in content development with Quality Logo Products in Aurora. She is the daughter of Michael and Anne Marie Markowski and is a 2008 graduate of Glenbard East High School.

Anna Laky of Villa Park was awarded the 2012 Outstanding Major in Chemistry Award during Honors Day May 15 at North Central College.

May 21, 2012—Anna Laky of Villa Park was awarded the 2012 Outstanding Major in Chemistry Award during Honors Day May 15 at North Central College.

Laky is a senior majoring in chemistry with minors in secondary education and psychology at North Central College. She is the daughter of Michael and Susan Laky and is a 2008 graduate of Willowbrook High School. After graduating from North Central in June, she plans to teach high school chemistry.

Michael McEvoy earns 2012 Outstanding Major in Physics Award

Michael McEvoy of Buffalo Grove was awarded the 2012 Outstanding Major in Physics Award during Honors Day May 15 at North Central College.

May 21, 2012—Michael McEvoy of Buffalo Grove was awarded the 2012 Outstanding Major in Physics Award during Honors Day May 15 at North Central College.

McEvoy is a senior physics major who graduated from Buffalo Grove High School. He is the son of Mike and Pat McEvoy.

He plans to graduate in December after completing a research experience off campus, then pursue graduate studies and earn a master’s degree in physics.

Meghan Steinbeiss of Naperville was awarded the 2012 Outstanding Major in Political Science Award during Honors Day May 15 at North Central College.

Steinbeiss is a junior majoring in political science and global studies. She is the daughter of James and Isabel Steinbeiss and a graduate of Naperville North High School. When she completes her studies at North Central Steinbeiss plans to pursue graduate studies in political science, earn a doctorate and teach the subject at a college or university.

Mike Giaquinto of Hackettstown, N.J. was awarded the 2012 Outstanding Major in Physical Education Award during Honors Day May 15.

May 21, 2012—Mike Giaquinto of Hackettstown, N.J. was awarded the 2012 Outstanding Major in Physical Education Award during Honors Day May 15 at North Central College.

Giaquinto is a senior majoring in physical education with a minor in secondary education. He is the son of Lisa and Frank Giaquinto and a graduate of Warren Hills Regional High School.
