Registration open for Verandah walking tour during spring term

North Central College offers Verandah course, Chicago on the Ground: Walking Tour of America’s Architectural Capital, with Tribune critic and art faculty.

A spring Verandah course—Chicago on the Ground: Walking Tour of America’s Architectural Capital—is open for registration. Taught by Wendy Koenig, associate professor of art, and Blair Kamin, architecture critic for the Chicago Tribune and North Central adjunct professor of art, the course will be held on three Saturdays, April 21 and 28 and May 5, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The seventh offering of this popular student Verandah course has some new features, including exploring masterworks of Chicago architecture, from the birth of the skyscraper in the 1880s to the present.

Madormo publishes new novel for young readers

John Madormo, North Central College assistant professor of broadcast communication, authors young-readers novel, his first in a series, for release this spring.

John Madormo, North Central College assistant professor of broadcast communication and general manager of WONC-FM 89.1, has authored a young-readers novel that will be released this spring, adding to a long list of writing accomplishments.

On May 10, Madormo’s book “The Homemade Stuffing Caper”—his first book in the “Charlie Collier, Snoop for Hire” series—will be released to bookstores nationwide through publisher Penguin Books for Young Readers. The book is available now for pre-order through vendors such as Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Penguin.
