North Central alumnus Curtis Haug named GM of Kane County Cougars

Curtis Haug, a 1992 North Central College graduate, has been named general manager of the Kane County Cougars.

Oct. 5, 2011—Curtis Haug, a 1992 North Central College graduate, has been named general manager of the Kane County Cougars.

Haug has worked for the Cougars for the past 18 years and has been assistant general manager for the past 13 years.

The exhibit, “150 Years: A Promising Start” at Naper Settlement’s Heritage Gallery echoes the theme of the College’s Sesquicentennial celebration. Throughout the exhibition—which runs through mid-June 2012 at Naper Settlement’s Pre-Emption House Visitor Center, 523 S. Webster St.—admission will be free to all North Central College students, faculty, staff and alumni.

Amber Druien, a 2007 biochemistry alumna, was the top woman finisher in the Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon Oct. 2.

Oct. 5, 2011—Amber Druien, who graduated from North Central College in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, was the top woman finisher in the Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon Oct. 2.

Druien completed the marathon with a time of 2:54:15—31 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor.

Students and alumni who are interested in or curious about graduate school, either for next fall or sometime in the future, are invited to attend the Chicago Graduate and Professional School Fair between 3 and 7 p.m. this Thursday, Oct. 6. There is no fee or official registration.



Yo-Yo Ma Fills Wentz Concert Hall

A sold-out crowd was not disappointed by the cellist's passionate performance.

A single black chair sat in the middle of the expansive Wentz Concert Hall stage as a sold-out crowd awaited the arrival of the world’s greatest cellist, Yo-Yo Ma. When Ma emerged, the audience erupted with applause.

It was one of those defining moments for North Central College’s fine and performing arts program and Ma didn’t disappoint. Spectators enjoyed the cellist’s passionate performance of Bach including “Suite No. 1 in G Major, BWV 1007,” “Suite No. 5 in C minor, BWV 1011” and “Suite No. 3 in C Major, CBWV 1009”.
