North Central College will host a talk by Bill Bryson Oct. 26 as part of the College’s Sesquicentennial Author Series presented by Anderson’s Bookshops.

Oct. 7, 2011—North Central College will host a talk by Bill Bryson Oct. 26 as part of the College’s Sesquicentennial Author Series presented by Anderson’s Bookshops.

Bryson’s talk begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, in the Theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall, 31 S. Ellsworth St. The cost is $22 and includes a copy of a new paperback edition of his book “At Home: A Short History of Private Life,” and admission to the author event, question-and-answer session and signing line.

The City of Naperville helped celebrate North Central College’s Sesquicentennial during the annual Last Fling Labor Day Parade.

Grand marshal was Harold R. “Hal” Wilde, North Central College president since 1991. Wilde rode in a convertible with his wife, Benna, near the front of the parade.

North Central College begins Sesquicentennial year with record enrollment

North Central College begins its Sesquicentennial year with record enrollment of more than 3,000 students.

Sept. 6, 2011—North Central College begins its Sesquicentennial year with a record number of students.

The College—which on Nov. 11 will mark the 150th anniversary of its 1861 founding—anticipates total enrollment to exceed 3,000 as the 2011-2012 academic year begins. The year is expected to begin with more than 2,700 undergraduate students and nearly 300 graduate students.

The Cardinal football team travels to Redlands, Calif., for its first regular-season game against the University of Redlands on Saturday, Sept. 3. Cardinal fans can follow the live action on WONC-FM 89.1, online at WONC.org or live stats on the College’s athletic website. Kickoff time on Saturday is set for 9 p.m. CT in Chicago or 7 p.m. PT.
