North Central College remembers faculty member Andy Adams

North Central College was saddened to learn that Andrew Adams, Ph.D., was killed by a train on Sept. 30, 2011.

Oct. 3, 2011—North Central College was saddened to learn that Andrew Adams, Ph.D., was killed by a train on Sept. 30, 2011.

Adams began teaching at North Central in 1970 as an instructor of classics and became a full professor in 1991. His courses included classical mythology, Greek and Roman history and elementary Latin. He was co-editor of a high school-level Latin textbook and for many years wrote two examinations annually for the Illinois State High School Latin Tournament as a member of the Illinois Classical Conference.

North Central College will showcase the artwork of senior student-artist Mark Burns during a monthlong exhibit, Oct. 3-31.

Titled “Metropolitan Chaos,” the free exhibit will be on display in North Central’s Meiley-Swallow Hall Gallery, 31 S. Ellsworth St., Naperville. Burns will greet visitors during a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12. Complimentary refreshments will be served.

For the fourth consecutive year, the College will conduct fire drills in 12 academic buildings during fall term. These fire drills will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 27, between 2 and 4:30 p.m. No residence halls are included, but will have separate drills during early October.

Here’s the lineup of approximate times and the buildings that will be involved in the Sept. 27 fire drills:

2 p.m. Kroehler Science Center
2:15 p.m. Kiekhofer Hall
2:30 p.m. Carnegie Hall
2:45 p.m. Old Main
3 p.m. Meiley-Swallow Hall



NCTV to air live broadcasts of three North Central College football games

Naperville Community Television (NCTV17) will air live broadcasts of three upcoming regular-season North Central College football games.

Naperville Community Television (NCTV17) will air live broadcasts of three upcoming regular-season North Central College football games.

Viewers can catch the Cardinals in action on NCTV17 when North Central hosts Augustana College at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8; Wheaton College at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5; and North Park University for its Sesquicentennial Homecoming game at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12.

The live broadcasts of the games will be hosted by Alex Symonds and 2011 North Central College graduate Marc Dahlquist. Five cameras will be used in the broadcasts.
