Old Main bells to sound during Naperville Municipal Band performance tonight

This year, North Central College is helping the Naperville Municipal Band with its annual Independence Day celebration. Tonight, June 30, 2011, the Naperville Municipal Band performs its annual 4th of July concert at Central Park in downtown Naperville. As part of the performance of Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture," The Naperville Municipal Band has invited North Central College to participate by ringing the Old Main Tower Bells during the finale.

Faculty and staff recognized for outstanding service, teaching, scholarship

Six faculty and administrative staff members are recognized by for their outstanding teaching, scholarship and service “above and beyond the call of duty.”

June 28, 2011—North Central College recently recognized faculty and administrative staff members for their outstanding teaching, scholarship and service "above and beyond the call of duty." Each was presented with endowed awards established in memory of two North Central College alumni—Clarence F. Dissinger, Class of 1921, and his sister Ruth C. Dissinger Althaus, Class of 1922. With the exception of the scholarship prize, awards were based on student, faculty and staff nominations.

WONC competes among commercial stations for Silver Dome Awards

North Central’s WONC-FM received two nominations, two second-place wins for 2011 Silver Dome Awards from the Illinois Broadcasters Association.

June 28, 2011—North Central College’s radio station WONC-FM 89.1 received two nominations for Silver Dome Awards from the Illinois Broadcasters Association (IBA). The Silver Domes are the most prestigious broadcast performance award in the state.

Over-the-air broadcast stations and on-air talent in small, medium and Chicago market commercial radio, as well as medium and Chicago market television, were included in the competition.
