Richard Gacek earns Outstanding Major in Finance Award

Richard Gacek Jr. was honored with the 2011 Outstanding Major in Finance Award during Honors Day May 17 at North Central College.

Gacek is a graduating senior double-majoring in finance and economics. He has participated in North Central’s College Scholars Honors Program. While a student at North Central, he interned at Robert W. Baird & Co. in the Milwaukee area.

Grace Hollister earns Outstanding Major in Organizational Communication Award

Grace Hollister was honored with the 2011 Outstanding Major in Organizational Communication Award during Honors Day May 17 at North Central College.

Hollister is a graduating senior majoring in organizational communication. She plans to attend graduate school.

At North Central, Hollister was a College Scholar and presented research at the College's Rall Symposium for Undergraduate Research and at the 2011 National Conference for Undergraduate Research, which was held at Ithaca College in Ithaca, N.Y.

Carolina Hirsch earns Outstanding Major in International Business Award

Carolina Hirsch was honored with the 2011 Outstanding Major in International Business Award during Honors Day May 17 at North Central College.

Hirsch is a graduating senior double-majoring in international business and French.

At North Central, Hirsch participated in two different study abroad courses in France and China, was active with Chinese Club and French Club, and served as vice president of the Entrepreneurship and International Business Organization (EIBO).

Kaylee Oost earns Outstanding Major in Theatre Award

Kaylee Oost was honored with the 2011 Outstanding Major in Theatre Award during Honors Day May 17 at North Central College.

Oost is a graduating senior majoring in theatre. She recently interned at Chicago’s Goodman Theatre working on the world premier of a show called “Stage Kiss.” She is a graduate of Plano High School.

Joseph Antonacci was honored with the 2011 Outstanding Major in Accounting and Wall Street Journal awards during Honors Day May 17 at North Central College.

Antonacci is a graduating senior triple-majoring in accounting: CPA track, economics and finance. He has accepted a full-time position with Deloitte LLP.

Timothy Lesiewicz earns Outstanding Major in Economics Award

Timothy Lesiewicz was honored with the 2011 Outstanding Major in Economics Award during Honors Day May 17 at North Central College.

Lesiewicz is a graduating senior double-majoring in economics and international business.

Cardinals repeat as national champions

North Central College on Saturday won the 2011 NCAA Division III Outdoor Men's Track & Field Championships, claiming its second straight outdoor national title. North Central totaled 58 points, while University of Wisconsin-La Crosse was second with 56.

The Cardinals picked up four individual national championships during the three-day meet. Michael Spain won two, in 10,000 meters and 5,000 meters. Daniel Benton won the 400-meter dash, and Pete Geraghty won the pole vault.

Cardinals Repeat as Outdoor Champs

North Central College repeated as outdoor track and field champs.

Lucas Mitzel earns Outstanding Major in Broadcast Communication Award

Lucas Mitzel was honored with the 2011 Outstanding Major in Broadcast Communication Award during Honors Day May 17 at North Central College.

Mitzel is a graduating senior majoring in broadcast communication. He recently received a first-place Best Sports Play-by-Play Award by the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System, sharing the award with classmate Ryna Piers. Mitzel provided the color commentary for the broadcast. Both were broadcasters for WONC 89.1 FM, the College's student-ran radio station.

Kathryn Braun earns Outstanding Major in Spanish Award

Kathryn Braun was honored with the 2011 Outstanding Major in Spanish Award and Outstanding Student in the Division of Arts and Letters Award during Honors Day.

Braun is a graduating senior double-majoring in Spanish and classical civilization. She has been accepted to a graduate program in Spanish linguistics at the University of Illinois.
