Outstanding Alumni Award Winner 1983
Paul Schwab began his private practice in 1965, during which time he was also on the faculty at the University of Chicago. Currently, Dr. Schwab lectures third-year medical students on psychopharmacology at the University. In 1991 and 2003, he was named the department’s outstanding teacher. Schwab is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He has served as a North Central College Trustee since 1980 and chaired the Board committees of academic and student affairs, admission, financial aid, and student development. Schwab served as president of North Central’s Alumni Association from 1979-80 and was a recipient of the Gael D. Swing Award for Meritorious Service in 2001. In early 2004, North Central’s psychology research lab in Goldspohn Hall was officially named the Dr. Paul J. Schwab Psychology Research Center in his honor. Schwab was recently named Life Trustee of North Central College.
