Ella Schroeder Dute
Outstanding Alumni Award Winner 1981
Ella Dute began teaching in country schools after only one year of training beyond grammar school. She came to Naperville in 1921 to finish her secondary education at North Central with scholarship assistance and she graduated cum laude and valedictorian. Dute returned to her alma mater in 1942 as an instructor of freshman English and matron of Kaufman Hall. She served with the YWCA, the Religious Life Council and worked as advisor to the Spectrum and college publication board. She retired in 1978.
