Dwight L. Freshley

Dwight L. Freshley is professor of speech emeritus at the University of Georgia. In 1995, he traveled to Beijing, China, to serve as a visiting professor at Renmin University. He was the first person to serve in all three top positions in the Southern Speech Association—editor of The Southern Speech Journal, executive director of the Association, and later president. Over the years he has received numerous awards for his outstanding service and was featured on Spotlight Program as the former president of Southern States Communication Association in 2004. He has co-authored and co-edited five books and book chapters and over 20 articles. Freshley still serves as chair of the past presidents of Southern States Communication and co-chair of the placement center for the National Communication Association.
