Higher Learning Commission
North Central College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association evaluates an entire educational organization in terms of its mission and the agency’s standards or criteria. It accredits the organization as a whole. Besides assessing formal educational activities, it evaluates such things as governance and administration, financial stability, admissions and student services, institutional resources, student learning, institutional effectiveness, and relationships with internal and external constituencies.
Every 10 years, North Central College participates in the reaccreditation process to ensure its status as a quality institution of higher education. North Central College last engaged in this process in 2009-2010. The College is also an affiliated United Methodist institution as approved by the University Senate of the United Methodist Church. It maintains membership in the American Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, the Federation of Independent Illinois Colleges and Universities, and is a founding member of The New American Colleges and Universities.
