2012 Family Weekend schedule
Friday, November 2, 2012
4 - 7 p.m. Check-in and information packet pickup
Harold and Eva White Activities Center front desk
Pick up everything you need for a great weekend, including schedule information, pre-purchased tickets, downtown Naperville discounts and information about local worship locations.
5 - 7 p.m. Dinner on your own
Take advantage of the special offers provided by local restaurants. Offers will be distributed in Family Weekend packets, so be sure to register.
5:30 - 8:15 p.m. Parents Reception
Meiley-Swallow Hall Gallery
All parents are invited to attend an evening of networking and entertainment. Information about the newly created parents program will be shared. Heavy hors d'oeuvres and refreshments will be provided followed by a sneak preview of songs performed by cast members of "Kiss Me Kate." North Central’s student-run “venue for social change" will present the vocal prowess of a few great women, including two noted singer-songwriters on this special Ladies Night. Off stage, we'll be celebrating both men and women by having some great specials in our café you won’t want to miss. Come enjoy a great night of music with your family and friends at The Union.

Meiley-Swallow Hall Theatre
Local comedy troupe Acid Reflux and North Central’s The Company team up to present this brand-new hilarious sketch revue! Everyone has been to that awkward family party or been forced to watch “Bridesmaids“ with their grandparents. Starring an all-star cast of North Central College theatre students, Acid Reflex has performed at some of the nation's biggest festivals. Join the troupe in celebrating those awkward moments in this all-original show. Tickets are $10 to the public but mention "Family Weekend" and gain admission for half-price! www.AcidRefluxComedy.com

Your student is likely involved in numerous activities outside the classroom. Take this opportunity to meet the staff advisors and mentors who shape your student's college experience. Put a face with the name you may have heard about in Residence Life, Student Involvement, Ministry and Service, Multicultural Affairs, Commuter Life, the Premier Program and the Dean of Students Office. Stop by to say hello, grab a snack and have a chance to win some North Central gear! (Raffles will take palce on the half hour.)

Trolley Tours of Naperville
Wentz Concert Hall and Fine Arts Center
Enjoy a scenic tour of DuPage County’s oldest city, including the historic district and Downtown Naperville. Trolley tours depart from the Wentz Concert Hall and Fine Arts Center at 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m., noon and 12:30 p.m.
WONC-FM 89.1 Open House
Oliver Hall
Take a tour and listen to the sounds of North Central's nationally recognized and Marconi Award-winning radio station, WONC-FM 89.1 FM. WONC broadcasts from its own state-of-the-art facility in Oliver Hall, at 232 E. Chicago Ave.
11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Cardinal Fan Fest
Championship Plaza
Join the Cardinal Fan Fest before the football game. Enjoy festivities on Championship Plaza complete with food, giveaways, a photo booth, bags tournament and music by our very own Pep Band.
1 p.m. Football game
Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium
Come and watch the North Central Cardinals as they face Wheaton College in the annual Battle for the Little Brass Bell. Join the College Union Activities Board’s “Cardinal Crazy” student fan section in cheering on the Cardinals! Tickets are required.
4:30 – 7 p.m. Family Dinner
Harold and Eva White Activities Center, Centennial Hall
After the game, come and enjoy a nice and relaxing dinner with your family. Meals will be served family style in two seatings. Please preference either a 4:30 p.m. or 6 p.m. seating. Reservations are required; tickets are $10/person.

8 - 10 p.m. CUAB Presents Mentalist Chris Carter
Wentz Concert Hall
Christopher Carter is recognized as one of the world’s greatest mind-readers. But he’s not psychic. He’s simply an incredibly skilled observer of human behavior. Starting at age 8, when an uncle allowed him to sit in on a poker game, Carter began to realize that people broadcast their thoughts in ways beyond words. This led to a lifelong interest in nonverbal communication and “people reading.”

Sunday Morning Worship Services
Families are encouraged to worship together at one of many local churches. For options and details refer to the list provided during check-in. For an on-campus option, visit Community Christian Church in Wentz Concert Hall at 10 a.m. Also, a group will walk to Community United Methodist Church for the 11 a.m. service and another group meeting in the White Activities Center at 10:30 a.m.
Morton Arboretum
Morton Arboretum has acquired trees and plants from around the world for study, display, research, and propagation. It offers the beauty and uniqueness of nature near Naperville. Connect with nature and your family with a peaceful walk to enjoy the fall colors. The grounds open at 7 a.m. with the Visitor Center opening at 9 a.m. Admission to the Arboretum is $12/adults, $11/senior citzens and $9/chilren ages 2-17.
10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Brunch
Kaufman Dining Hall
Enjoy Sunday brunch with your North Central College student as you begin a relaxing afternoon in Naperville. Reservations are required.

Parking
Parking near Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium for Family Weekend events is limited. Street parking is located north of Chicago Avenue. Please obey all posted parking restrictions. North Central College-permitted parking lots are available for use, except the lower Highland lot, which is for Res/Rec residents only. We encourage Family Weekend guests to park in all the campus parking lots north of Chicago Avenue.
