Build your portfolio without leaving campus by working on the College’s award-winning student newspaper, The Chronicle. You’ll learn the ropes of journalism from a faculty advisor who has worked for two national dailies and knows what it takes to produce a successful paper. Students from various majors write, edit and photograph all content for the paper, working on tight weekly deadlines.

You can also:

Cross-train on a variety of skills, including photography, editing and design.

As sports editor of The Chronicle, Kim has quickly become a better reporter and broadcaster. In addition to researching and writing her own articles, she coordinates brainstorming sessions and edits the work of other writers.

“I no longer fear approaching people to interview them or worry about asking the wrong questions,” Kim says.

An added bonus: When applying for internships and jobs, she says interviewers “like to see that I have writing experience on my résumé. They ask questions about what I’ve written for the paper.”
